Performance Air Filters

Air Filters
The first Stage of any engine tune is replacing the original restrictive air filter and housing with a high-flow performance replacement.  Your original air filter is designed to reduce the dust and other foreign particles entering the engines induction system.  The other requirement is for the original filter is it giving a quiet engine induction sound.  Because cars are built to a price it must do both of these jobs as cheaply as possible.

Performance Air Filters
The purpose of a performance air filter is to offer better engine protection compared with the standard filter and again keeping unwanted dust and foreign particles entering the engines induction system.  This is achieved by using sophisticated designs and materials such as multi layer polyurethane foam, oiled cotton gauze and carbon fibre.  Any additional induction noise produced by a performance air filter over the standard item is considered as being an acceptable by product usually appreciated by buyer.

With price not being a major issue for the performance air filter engineer the best solution can be built for each car type.  When you compare the cost of replacing a standard paper element at the required service interval with a replacement performance panel filter it often works out cheaper with the replacement as its only needs cleaning and replacing.  The interval is also much longer than the standard item, this makes it both kind to the environment and to your wallet.  Performance Air Filters come in various configurations from inexpensive panel filters to forced induction systems with inlet tracts made from carbon fibre.  We supply air filters from the world’s finest manufacturers such as BMC, K&N, Green, Pipercross, Powertec, Blitz and HKS.

Replacement Panel filters
Replacement panel filters easily replace the original air filter within the air box. Installation is a simple matter of opening the air box, removing the old filter and replacing it with a high flow panel filter.  With the O/E filter in place air born dust particles are trapped by a paper air filter; this produces a dramatic increase in pressure drop which robs the engine of airflow and power.  The deep foam or cotton-gauze construction of the performance air filter allows the air to negotiate the trapped dust with little loss of airflow or engine power. The service interval is extended when you use a foam or cotton-gauze performance panel filter.  The cleaning interval is nearly double that of a paper filter.  By simply cleaning and refitting the performance panel filter, there is less environmental impact and service costs are reduced.

Induction Kits
Induction kits are tailored specifically for each application to ensure fit and performance increase.  When fitting as induction kit you replace the standard restrictive air filter and its plastic housing.  The replacement is a cone filter which is fitted to the air flow meter or its induction piping.  Most of the induction kits we supply come with a cold air feed to the filter.  This is a tube that captures cold air from the front of the vehicle and routes it to the cone filter.  Research, development and extensive testing is performed on each induction kit to ensure that every Induction kit performs well, looks fantastic and is an easy DIY fit.

Sealed cold air intake system
As with the Induction kit when fitting as a sealed intake system kit you replace the standard restrictive air filter and its plastic housing.  The replacement is a cone filter which is fitted to the air flow meter or its induction piping.  Were it differs from the induction kit is the cone filter is enclosed in a heat protected housing that eliminates hot under bonnet air warming the cool air being fed from the cold air feed at the front of the vehicle.  Air speed is increased in the filter housing to add further performance gains.  The sealed air intake system can be found on motorsport applications such as car competing in the WTCC.  Research, development and extensive testing is performed on each induction kit to ensure that every Induction kit performs well, looks fantastic and is an easy DIY fit.

Cleaning Kits
To keep your Performance air filter in tip top condition you must use a filter service kit.  The kits typically contain all you need to clean and recharge your filter and are available from K&N and Pipercross filters.  The cleaner and dust retention oil additive are supplied in easy to use containers so that servicing is quick and easy to perform.

Crankcase Breathers
Breather filters are available in different designs; they all are built to prevent contaminated oil vapour from re-entering the engine.  They are either clamped to the crankcase hose and vent direct to the atmosphere or are inline.

Cold Air feeds
The cold air feed is essentially a corrugated pipe that runs from the front of the vehicle to the air filter.  Fitting a cold air feed increases the quantity of cool air to your filter, this maximises power and improves under bonnet appearance.
